Poem

If You Cannot Be

If you cannot be a gigantic rock upon a mountain high, That casts a giant shadow that tells when evening is nigh; If you cannot be a rock of Gibraltar, near a seashore of sand,
A solid piece of real estate for the lighthouse to stand. If you cannot be a big block to build a pyramid, Or a rock in a temple like the one Solomon did.
If for a great cathedral you cannot be a cornerstone, Then be a pebble in the walkway that worshippers walk upon If you cannot be a big marker that shows travelers the way, Then be a rock for him to rest upon as he travels during the day.
If you cannot be a gem stone, so pretty to look upon, Then heres what you can do
Just be a little sand grain melted down in a clear glass pane, That lets the light of the Son shine through.
Thomas E. Ramsey
