Deacon Elgin Ramsey disappeared around eleven oclock the night of February 18, 1985.
Deacon Ramsey was a native of Lincoln County, Georgia and lived here until his departure. He was the son of the late Mr. Charlie and Louise Davis Ramsey. Coming from a Christian home, Mr. Ramsey confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a deacon of Mt. Zion and was a custodian of the Mt. Zion for forty-six years and the Salem Baptist Church; a member of the 49th Banner Life Society; president of the Free Will Singing Convention; chairman of the Executive-Board of the Free Will Singing Convention; and a retired employee of Pollard Lumber Company.
When there was something needed to be done, he was always willing and able to do it.
Dea. Ramsey was united into wedlock to the late Mrs. Jule Ramsey and to this union twelve children were born.
Those who are deeply touched are his ten children which include eight daughters, Mrs. Nellie Weems, Lucille R. Jones, Mrs. Mary E. Williams, all of Lincolnton, Ga., Mrs. Naomi Collier and Mrs. Virginia Kenner, of Atlanta, Ga., Miss Lucinda Ramsey, Fayetteville, N.C., Mrs. Pearl Mason, Clarksville, Tenn., and Miss Lillian Ramsey, Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Mr. John Willie Ramsey, Atlanta, Ga., and Mr. Harry Dunn Ramsey, Lincolnton, Ga.; 24 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, seven sons-in-law; six sisters-in-law; two brothers, Mr. Watson Ramsey, Lincolnton, Ga., and Mr. James Ramsey, Evans, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to mourn his passing.
