Obituary
Queen Rebecca Raiford was born September 26, 1915, in Edgefield County, S.C. The oldest child of the late Joseph and Laura Williams Raiford, she was lovingly known as " Rebecca." Rebecca was called to rest Saturday, June 20, 1987, at Aiken Community Hospital, Aiken, S.C.
She was baptized at the age of twelve at Bland Baptist Church and maintained her devotion and membership throughout life.
Rebecca ventured to Washington, D.C., and later Albany, N.Y. She successfully maintained a livelihood working as a nurse and governess. Her compassion for her profession influenced her personal life and in 1960, Rebecca returned to South Carolina to nurse her invalid parents.
Rebecca maintained the family home and perpetuated the family traditions, providing a source of love and devotion for the entire Raiford family.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her loving brother, Abraham Raiford of Ridge Spring; two sisters, Alma Jennings, Titusville, Fla., and Rosa Hartley, Aiken, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Anne Raiford and Ruth Raiford; three brothers-in-law, Jerold Jennings. Henry Hartley, Albert Jordan, eighteen nieces; five nephews; and other sorrowful cousins and friends.

Tribute
You've left us, Rebecca, and we feel all alone But the love and memories of you will linger on and on. The feelings that we share are unbearable for us today But we'll try to find strength because you wanted us that way. We need you, but God needed you more I guess that's why he opened up his door. And now that you're in it we know you're with a friend And some day, we all will be together again We love you.
