Obituary
Mrs. Eddie (Edna) Reid Phillips went to be with
the Lord early Thursday morning, January 30, 2013, at the Thomson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Thomson, Georgia.
Mrs. Phillips was born on January 25, 1921 in Uvalda, Georgia to Mr. Ed Reid and Mrs. Tommie Brady Reid New, both of whom are deceased. The family moved to Vidalia, Georgia where Mrs. Phillips grew up and attended Dickerson Training School with her brother, Mr. Almond Reid, who is also deceased.
Mrs. Phillips met Mr. Albert Phillips of Vidalia, Georgia and they married during World War II. He preceded her in death. They were happily married for fifty-one years and lived for many years in New York City. The family eventually relocated back south and settled in Martinez, Georgia during the 1980's. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Phillips began her association and membership with the Antioch Baptist Church, through her mother. It was at Antioch that she acquired some very close and dear friends who were like family.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her cousin, whom she called her brother, Samuel Dasher and his wife Dorothy Dasher of Detroit Michigan; brothers-in-law, Elisha Wells of Cleveland, Ohio and Perry Phillips of Jamaica, New York; sisters-in-law, Jucille Richardson of Atlanta, Georgia and Nathalie Phillips of Los Angeles, California; nieces, Gail D. Carson and Pamela Dasher, M.D. both of Detroit, Michigan; nephews, Neil Phillips, Charlotte, North Carolina and Martin Phillips of New York; a host of greatnieces and great-nephews; also her dear friends, Ann Robinson, Raye Robinson, Viola Elam, Louise Heath; and many other friends from the Antioch Church Family and the Antioch Midday Bible Study Family, who helped to comfort and lift her spirits and give her life meaning.
