S. (Emma ^l^cpcrry, daughter of the late
Melvin and Josie Blanchard Colbert, was born December 4, 1920, in Richmond County, Georgia. She entered into rest on Friday, June 6, 2003, at the University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
She was baptized at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Whitehead. While serving at Antioch, she was a member of the Susie Searle Mission and the Senior care Group.
She was educated at Haines Industrial Institute.
She was employed and retired from Fort Gordon's Officer's Club in 1982.
She was married to the late Sam Tanksley and to that union three children were born. She later married the late Deacon Roosevelt Perry and to that union one child was born.
She's survived by: four children, Rev. Sam (Jean) Tanksley, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia, Helen Tanksley of Augusta, Georgia, Patricia Tanksley of Lithonia, Georgia, and Joyce P. Clyburn of Augusta, Georgia. She has thirteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; one devoted granddaughter, Janice Gilbert; one devoted great granddaughter, LaToya W ashing ton; one devoted great grandson, Brandon Curry; two sistersin-law, Mrs. Gladys P. Stewart of Augusta, Georgia and Mrs. Jessie T. Miller of Martinez, Georgia; one very close niece, Mrs. Louise Melvin of Portsmouth, Ohio; and a host of nieces, neph ews, cousins and loving friends.
