Obituary
Mrs. Jessie Mae Parks departed this life Friday, January 5,2001 at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington, Georgia, after a brief illness.
She was a native of Lincoln County where she lived her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Tate Maddox, Sr., and the late Jannie Mae Norman "Honey" Maddox. She was the fourth of nine children. She was preceded in death by three of her siblings, William "Bud" Maddox, Tate Maddox, Jr., and Lonnie Maddox.
She worked as a housekeeper for many years. She cared for, loved and helped raise many children, even though she did not raise any of her own. She joined the New Tabernacle Baptist Church at an early age, where she served faithfully until her health failed.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Ellis Parks on July 12,1952. She was a good neighbor, a soft spoken, kind, affectionate person who always greeted you with a smile; a thoughtful person who was dearly loved by all her family and friends. Each one of them meant something special to her, whether they called her Sis., Aunt Jessie Mae, Ms. Jessie Mae or Jessie Mae.
She was a fun loving person. She loved to see people happy. If you stopped by her house, by the time you left, she would have said or done something that would make you laugh. If you wanted her advice and she could give it, she could put you on the right road.
She loved her family very much. She made sure that one way or another she kept in touch with everyone she could. If they needed her help, she took car of it. If it was local and she couldnt get there, she sent her husband. If it was out of town, the Postman of UPS got it there, but one way or another it got there.
She loved her church and tried to do whatever was asked of her. When her health failed and she couldnt go to church, she made sure that her tithes kept coming. Everyone that knew her knows how she loved her flowers.
She was an A # 1 Cook. She loved to prepare for family gatherings, Homecomings and holidays. Not just a little, but a whole lot of good food. If you visited her home on Sundays whether you sat to the table or took a plate with you, you had a full course meal, dessert included.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of forty-eight years, Mr. Ellis Parks, of Lincolnton, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Jones and Ms. Bertha H. Ellis of Lincolnton, Ga., three brothers, Mr. Aron Maddox, Sr., of Washington, GA., Mr. Thomas Maddox of Lincolnton, GA., and Mr. Roy E. Maddox of Brooklyn, New York; nine sisters-in law, Mrs. Bessie Maddox of Washington, GA., Ms. Willie Lizzie Maddox, of Plum Branch, SC., Mrs. Lizzie Mae Maddox, of Louisville, GA, Mrs. Charlie Mae Maddox, Mrs. Mae Lou Leverette both of Lincolnton, GA, Ms. LeAnne Williams of Indiana, Ms. Fannie Mae Norman, of Bronx, NY, Ms. Helen "Hess" Cavitt of Lincolnton, GA, Ms. Lucille Harris of Newark, NJ; four brothers-in law, Mr. Hubert Hawes of Lincolnton, GA, Mr. Isom Hawes, Jr., of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Robert Lee Hawes of Decatur, GA and Mr. William Ellis of St. Matthew, SC; one aunt Mrs. Mary Maddox of Charlotte, NC; a special niece, Mrs. Carolyn H. Davis of Reading, PA; a special nephew, Mr. Jesse Jones of Athens, GA and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Im Free
Dont grieve for me, for now Im free Im following the path God has laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all.
To laugh, To love, To work or play Tasks left undone must stay that way I found peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow, My life has been full, I savored much Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts, and share with me,
God wanted me now, HE HAS SET ME FREE!
