On Wednesday, March 29, 2006, MRS. GLADYS Y. PALMER departed this life and passed into eternal rest. Mrs. Palmer was born on January 1,1922, in Aiken County, South Carolina, to Augustus and Litha Mason Young. At an early age, she joined Springfield Baptist Church in Edgefield, South Carolina, where she served for many years. She attended the public schools of Aiken County, Haines Institute, Walker Baptist Association, and graduated from Bettis Academy. Upon graduating, she attended Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Educa tion.
Mrs. Palmer was a dedicated and respected educator whose career spanned more than three decades in the public schools of Richmond, Aiken and Burke Counties. She taught both young children as an instructor at Augusta Area Technical and Voca tional School, and adults as well. A love of teaching and an enduring devotion to students were the defining hallmarks of her career and made it possible for her to influence the lives of the hundreds of students that she taught.
In November of 1994, she was married to the Reverend R.V. Palmer, Sr. and was a dedicated wife, mother, and First Lady at the many churches that he pastored throughout a long and successful ministry. They were married for more than fifty-six years until his death in 2001.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Mrs. Marian Louise Golphin (Lewis), Ms. Seygbo Menyongai Palmer, both of Augusta, Georgia and Mrs. Lois Cummings Jerry of Palmer Park, Maryland; three sons, Reverend R.V. Palmer, II (Teressa) of Bowie, Maryland, Charles W. Palmer (Mollie) of East Point, Georgia and Ambassador Larry L. Palmer (Lucille) of Wash ington, DC; one brother, Lewis Young of Augusta, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Mrs. LaRosa Grant of Augusta, Georgia; seven teen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two greatgreat grandchildren; two goddaughters, Lori Quiller and Cathy Lewis; one godson, Timothy Butler; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
From this world of pain and sorrow To the land of peace and rest,
Qod has accepted our dear loved one Where she will find eternal rest.

Mother's Never Die They Just Keep House Up In The Sky
When we are children, we are happy and gay, and our mother is young and she laughs as we play, Then as we groiv up, she teaches us truth and lays life's foun dation in the days of our youth ~ And then it is time for us to leave home, But her teachings go with us wherever we roam, For all that she taught us and all that we did, when were so often just a uhad, little kid," We will often remember and then realize that mothers are special and won derfully wise, And as she grows older, we look back with love, knowing that mothers are " Qifts from above , " And when she "goes home" to receive her reward, she will dwell in Qod's kingdom and ukeep house for the Lord" where she'll light up the stars that shine through the night and keep all the moonbeams "sparkling and bright" and then with the dawn she'll put the darkness away as she uscours" the sun to new brilliance each day - So dry tears of sorrow, for mothers don't die - They just move in with Qod and uKeep House in the Sky," And there in Qod's kingdom moth ers watch from above, to welcome their chil dren with undying
Love
