of

ROSA LEE OWENS

"Ive Done My Work"
Ive done my work, Ive sung my song, Ive done some good, Ive done some wrong, I shall go where I belong, The Lord has willed it so. He knows my heart and every thought, He knows my pain and joy Ive brought, and by His love I shall be taught, the way to Him I know.

Rosa Lee Owens
1918-2004
In accordance with His plan, our Heavenly Father called His faithful servant home, taking from us our loved one, Rosa Lee Fulcher Owens, the daughter of the late Robert and Maggie Fulcher. She was born September 27, 1918 in Hephzibah, Georgia and departed this life on Wednesday, March 10, 2004.
Rosa was raised in Hephzibah where she met and married James Willie Owens. They moved to Augusta, where they remained faithful in marriage for over fifty years, until God called James from labor to reward. From this union, five children were born: Sylvester, Sr., Willie Lee (both preceded her in death), Mattie Mae, Edna and Alberta.
Rosa also cared for her brother, James Campfield and sister, Juanita Marshall (both preceded her in death) since the death of their parents occurred while they were at a very young age.
Mama, as she was affectionately called, was a life-long resident of Richmond County. She worked hard to care for her children and did days work for many years for the Davis family. She nurtured and took care of her children and many moments of care for her sisters children, along with three other cousins. She cared for 13 children, and then raised four grandchildren. Discipline, training, respect and the rod was the order of the day.
Rosa accepted the Lord early in life and united with the Franklin Covenant Baptist Church in Hephzibah, Georgia, where she remained a member until death. Rosa served in earlier years as a member of the Willing Workers Missionary Society. She also was a long-standing member of the choir, which she loved, and enjoyed singing with her melodious alto accent. She was a diligent and devoted deacons wife and assisted her husband with his responsibilities as a servant, including church secretary for many years. She was a member of the Bright & Morning Star, Chapter #4. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star C.E. Williams/Mclntyre Court #56. Rosa gave her life serving until her health would no longer permit her to serve. She mothered all she had opportunity to serve.
She leaves to mourn her passing and to remember her in loving memories: three daughters, Mattie Mae McGuire, Alberta Beard

(both of Philadelphia, PA), and Edna Tanksley (who faithfully cared for her mother during her lengthy illness); one brother-in-law, Grady Marshall (Philadelphia, PA); one daughter-in-law, Annie Ruth Owens (Philadelphia, PA); guardian of four grandchildren, Valeric Owens, Beatrice Nunnally, Sylvester Owens, Jr., and David Leroy Owens (all of Philadelphia, PA); 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one godson, Darryl Bland; one adopted granddaughter, Theresa W. Cody; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on! Yes," says the Spirit, "so that they may rest from their labors for their deeds follow them." Revelation 14:12-13

IM FREE_____________________
Dont grieve for me; for now Im free, Im following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that peace at the close of the
day. If my parting has left a void then fill in with remembered joy. A friendship shared; a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things I too, will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My lifes been full, I savored much; good friends, good times, a loved ones
touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; dont lengthen it now with undue
grief. Lift up your heart and share with me; God wanted me now, He set me free.
