Obituary
"W ithout warning death plucked a flower from our garden to the valley of the shadows and left a loved one there." Rev. Robert Louis Oliver, Sr. returned to the earth where there is no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying or pain. Surely we cannot grieve for our father who was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday morning, February 10, 2000. It is for us we mourn, forgetting perhaps, in our own selfish sorrow that "it is well with our beloved in that better country."
He was born October 27, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Richard and Thelma Oleda Oliver.
H e attended school in Chicago, Illinois, and served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 18 where he served as Commander.
He was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church of which Rev. J. C. Trowell is Pastor.
He leaves to mourn, two sons, Mr. Robert (Veronica) Oliver, Jr., Augusta, Georgia; Mr. Scott Oliver, Boston, Massachusetts; three daughters, Mrs. Robyn Oliver Watkins, Florence, South Carolina; Loraine Oliver and Genezelle Oliver; Arizona; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Oliver, Augusta, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
St. John 14:2-3 "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place fo r you. And if I go and prepare a place fo r you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may he also. "

Living For Jesus
Livingfo r Jesus who died in his place, Robert has gone to meet him face to face.
Though he sufferedpain, He never complained.
For as time went by he knewju st why For through it all
He learned to depend on God. He knew this was not his home And this p la ce he would not live long. He used his life to serve God and man Hisfam ily andfriends made his life fu ll to the end. Now Robert has no pain at all, He doesn 't want you to weep at the grave;
Turn and leave with a smile And remember him with love.
