Obituary.
Irene Edwards O 'Bryant was born to
Willie and Mamie Edwards on May 26, 1928 in Augusta, Georgia. She was the third of five children and was enjoyed by her family and all those around her. The family attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she gave her life to Christ. As a native of Augusta, Georgia Irene attended C.T. Walker Grammar School, A.R. Johnson High School and Paine College. She attended and graduated from the Lamar School of Nursing with honors. She enjoyed her nursing career and during her service of twenty-five years as a registered nurse she received many awards, certificates and accolades. She was an active member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where her foremost interest was reaching out to others in need. She was the director of Calvary's first New Member Orientation Program. Also she was a member of Calvary's Church School Adult #1 Class, Soul Winning Society Circle, CPA/Senior Mission, Senior Choir and Sanctuary Choir.
She also attend bible study at numerous churches with friends and sorority sisters. She was a very active member in the Chi Eta Phi Sorority where she served faithfully. Irene was a devoted mother, sister, aunt and friend, she possessed a heart of gold. Her smile and warm personality touched the hearts of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Edwards; mother, Mamie Edwards Seabrook; brother, Earl Edwards and two sisters Lizzie Mae Young and Francis Juanita Evans.
Her memory will be cherished by her son, Kelvin Purnell Jackson, Augusta, GA; one brother, Richard (Bertha) Sutton, Jr. Augusta, GA; one aunt, Louise Garrett, Augusta, GA; one sister-in-law, Sophia Green, Augusta, GA; five nieces, Betty Anderson, Augusta, GA; Alberta Edwards, Columbus, OH; Lillie Green and Kimberly Sutton, both of Augusta, GA and Renita Evans, San Diego, CA; four nephews, William Evans, Jr., Detroit, MI; Pieree Sutton, Charleston, NC; Patrick Sutton, Los Angeles, CA; and Richard Edward Sutton, Augusta, GA; one godchild, Stephen Strother, Atlanta, GA; special friend, Irene Mazone, Augusta,GA; and a host of other friends.
