I have fought a goodfight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up fo r me a crown o f righteous ness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not me only, but unto all them also that love his appear ing. II Timothy 4:7-8.
Allene Norman, a lifetime resident of Atlanta and a woman who greatly en riched the lives of all who knew her, passed away suddenly last Thursday evening, March 12th. Born on July 25th, 1919 in Lincolnton, Georgia, she leaves behind rich legacy of caring, giving and an unforgettable, quick smile. Always dependable and steadfast, Allene was a tireless worker for both her church and her employer. Besides her son and Braves baseball, these were her passion. As a member of well over 40 years of the Greater Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Atlanta, Allene served on Usher Board #2 for over 30 years, was President of the Willing Workers Club and active in many other church activities. Her church family will miss this dedicated, always-active member and friend. Licensed as a Master Cosmetologist in Georgia and employed by Denna Colley's hair salons throughout her 38-year career, Allene's humor and sweet spirit were a hallmark to her profession. She easily endeared herself to all whom she met over that 38-year service. This family too, will miss her. Allene was, and always will be, irreplaceable. May all who read this know what a very, very special woman that Allene Norman was. Her beloved son, Gary A. Norman of Atlanta, family mem bers, her family of co-workers and church members, as well as countless friends across the metro area grieve this untimely loss.
Allene leaves to cherish her memories; one son Gary A. Norman, Sr.; one brother, Wade Zellars of Augusta, Georgia; four sisters Mamie Andrews of Lin colnton, Georgia, Rilla Ann Harper, Eva Hogan and Willie Davis all of Augusta, Georgia; one daughter in law, Ruby L. Norman of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother in law, Bennie L. Lewis of Martinez, Georgia; three sister in law, Lucy Zellars, Elizabeth Zellars and Elizabeth Lowe all of Augusta, Georgia; three grandchil dren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
POEM
You bade us a lastfarewell You said goodbye to some The heavenly gates ju st opened wide And the "M aster"softly said "C om e" He knew you were tired and the hills were hard to climb He gently closed your weary eyes,
and whispered "PEACEBE THINE"
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone.
For part o f us went with you, when God called you home.
