Mr. Walter Newton, Sr. was born to the late Joseph DAntignac and Ella Newton on June 28, 1920 and was preceded in death by his only sibling, Janie.
Walter, affectionately known as Roundhead, gave his life to Christ at a very early age. He joined the Elim church family and served faithfully for over 77 years. He and was considered the father of Elim. He served his church well in the capacity of Trustee and in the Finance Ministry until he was no longer able.
He served his country by joining the United States Army (19411946) and fought in World War U. He later met and married the late Eliza Mae Newton in May of 1949. From this union five children were bom and they raised them with lots of love.
Walter was a member of the Local #2 Union and worked at the Augusta Nationals Golf Club as a cook. He was a Master Plasterer and many buildings in the Augusta area as well as in other states stand as confirmation to his great work.
Besides his love of spending time with family, after his retirement, he also enjoyed spending time with friends, fishing, the once a month luncheon at area restaurants and watching his number one golfer, Tiger Woods.

Glad Ure Our Daddy Daddies are gifts that come from heaven,
No, theyre not purchased from 7-11
They carry this world upon their shoulders But remain relentless as they grow older!! They praise U when Ure right and scold U when Ure wrong, Neverforsaking peace in times of a storm.
They R called to be the lion..! Whose roar is greater than the sound A truer warrior should never be found! Never forsaking his family whatever winds abound!! And no!! we didnt get you from 7-11
Therefore, we rejoice today As U return to "Our Father" in Heaven Oh yes, were glad that Ure our daddy!!!
Mrs. Gloria A. McAlpine
