Obituary

Tommie Reid New, born July 10, 1897 in Toombs

County, Georgia. The second daughter o f Henry and Ophelia Brady departed this life March 16, 1996.
Tommie Brady met and married Ed Reid o f Uvalda,

Ga. They were blessed with fo u r children. This marriage was dissolved by death. She and two o f her children resid

ed in Vidalia, Ga. fo r several years. She was a member o f the First Baptist Church. The late Rev. Willie Hall was

pastor at that time.

In 1949 she came to Augusta, Ga. and became a

member o f the Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. I. V. Yancey

was pastor.

In 1950 she met and married Charles New. She was

widowed in 1981.

She is survived by one daughter: Edna Phillips, with

whom she lived; threefirst cousins: Samuel S. Dasher o f

Detroit, Mich.; M. I. Earlene Sanders o f Sacremento,

Calif, and Juanita Lett o f Vallejo, Calif.; great nieces

and nephews and a host o f friends, most especially her Antioch family, Rev. Kenneth B. Martin, pastor. She paid
