** OBITUARY **
Y, Mr. Joseph "Joe" Nelson departed this life March 5, 1976 at his )< residence in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He was born April 3, 1936 in Nitchell, Georgia to Mrs. Viola B. Nelson and the late Mr. Frank Nelson. He moved to Augusta, Georgia with his family at an early age and was baptized at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. H. W. Phinizy, Sr.
He attended the Charles T. Walker Elementary School and the Lucy C. Laney High School, where he was Head Drum Major of the school band and participated in other school activities. He graduated in June 1955.
He was married to the former Annie Louise Pittman of Charlotte, v North Carolina and into this union one child was born.
He leaves to cherish his memories a lovely daughter, Karen Lynn Nelson; his mother, Mrs. Viola Nelson; three sisters, Miss Delois Nelson, Mrs. Juanita Addison, Mrs. Ola Marchbanks; one brother, Mr. William D. Nelson; three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law; two aunts, two great aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Theres an open gate at the end of the road Through which each must go alone And there in the light we cannot see Our Father claims his own.
Beyond the gate your love one finds happiness and rest And there is comfort in the thought That a loving God knows best.
