MRS. MARTHA P. NEELY, 89, died unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep Wednesday morning, December 16, 2009, at her residence.
Mrs. Neely was born in Augusta, Georgia, on October 26, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Norma Phillips. Mrs. Neely graduated from the Immaculate Conception Catholic High School, Louvenia School of Beauty Culture, University Hospital of Practical Nursing and Augusta College in 1990 with an Associates degree in Criminal Justice.
Mrs. Neely retired from the Medical College of Georgia after 25 years of private duty nursing services. She accepted Christ at the age of thirteen and became a member of Moses Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. She was a faithful and loving Christian member of Thankful Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia for 69 years.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harvey and Norma Phillips; little sister, Clarissa Phillips; husband, Bernard Neely; son, Harvey Neely and brother, Richard Phillips.
She is survived by: her beloved and devoted daughter, Brenda Neely; sister-in-law, Natalie Neely; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
God saw you getting weary, He did what He thought best He came and stood beside you, then whispered softly, "Come and Rest."
You bid no one farewell, not even a sad goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For a part of us went with you, the day God called you home. God gave us the strength to bear it, courage to take the blow. But what it meant to lose you,
only God will know.
