Althea Bates Nash affectionately known as "Tee" was born August 2 , 1 9 4 6 in Augusta, Georgia. She was the oldest o f three children born to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Bates.

Althea accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Harmony Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and served on several ministries in the Church (Trustee Ministry, Sanctuary Choir, Scholarship Chairperson, Church Secretary, and By-Law Committee).

Althea received her early education at Ursula Collins School in Richmond County. She was a 1964 graduate o f Lucy Craft Laney High School and furthered her studies at Albany State College. Her desire had always been to complete college and in May o f 2000 she received her Bachelor o f Arts degree from Paine College.

On February 19, 1972 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Eddie L. Nash and to their union one son was born, Princeton Leon Nash.

Althea worked as an Administrative Assistant for Mr. Solomon Walker, III, CEO o f Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company for twenty-one years. She began working at the Augusta Probation Office in 1990, retiring August 2008.

Althea was best known for her generous spirit and her character. Her love for God could always be seen in her good works. She always treated people like family. Althea loved life and loved people. She will be a wonderful addition to the chorus in Heaven.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Princeton (Jon'Nita) Nash, Augusta, Georgia; one brother, Ernest N. Bates, Jr., Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Elizabeth M. Bates, Augusta, Georgia; grandson, Ja'Quez Frails, Augusta, Georgia; two nieces, LeKeisha B. Lee and Ashley Brown, Augusta, Georgia; two nephews, Cameron Bates and Christopher Bates, Atlanta, Georgia; four great nephews, Lanis and Latrell Lee, Augusta, Georgia; Cameron Bates, Jr., Augusta, Georgia; Camden Bates, Atlanta, Georgia; four great nieces, Morgan and Monai Bates, Augusta, Georgia; Camaree and Camryn Bates, Atlanta, Georgia; two aunts, Josephine and Mattie Tillman, Augusta, Georgia; Cousins, Addie Powell and Patricia Grant, one goddaughter, Janine Dix, Atlanta, Georgia; two godsons, Carlos Frye and Dorian "Dee" M cIntosh, Atlanta, Georgia; Special family friends Mr. Willie Chiles and Ms. Samuella Chiles and a host o f other relatives and dear friends.
