Sfie was the third ofdest o fJiv e chiCdren horn to ReverendJames W. Freeman an d Mrs. Mayyie Thurmond Freeman. (A d of whompreceded her in death.) She was united in hofy matrimony to the (ate Mr. Charfie Murray on March 6,1939 an d to this union seven chiCdren was horn. They resided at 1217 Hody Street untiChis death in 1968. Mary an d Charfie were known in an d around the communityJ o r their barbequepork, hash, cajish stew an d the Auyusta Giants Basehad Team. A Sunday woufdnot he compfete without the aroma o j barbeque cookiny in their backyard an d J y o u were an avid basebadjan, you woufdyet a chance to here an d meet yreat yospefy roups, Swanee Quintet, 5 Bfind Boys, Hiyhtower Brothers an d even a focafyroup, the H ard Rocks at their Hody Street residence. Her twentypfu s years as H ead Housekeeper at the Ofd University M otef on Gwinnett Street (aka) Taney Wafker Boufevard come to an end duriny 1970's due to a heart attack. She afso workedj o r the fate Judye John Hardinj o r aje w years. Mary became a member o j the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church duriny the 1950's under thepastorate o j the (ate Reverend Phinizy. It was Cater in her fje that shejo in ed the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church under ReverendJohnny R. Hatney an d attended as much as her heafth woufd adow her to attend. Afthouyh Mary was diaynosed with Afzheimer aje w years ayo an d heartjaifure, she did notjoryet to red her bibfe with assistance or fisten quietfy as her dauyhter or a nurse read to her. As we yatheredtoday to remember this woman ojstrenyth, fet us remover inprayer, thejam ify members whopreceded her in death, her husband, Mr. Charfie Murray, her ofdest son, Mr. Robert Freeman an d her younyest dauyhter, Miss Janet D.
