A time to be bom...
On October 13, 1932 in Lincolnton, Georgia the son o f the late Agnes Ruth Murray McGruder was born and named George. He was the oldest o f eleven children.
A time to learn, live and love...
George received his education from the public schools system in Lincoln County, Georgia and later moved to Augusta, Georgia. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Hattie Bullock. This union o f fifty-one years was blessed with eleven beautiful children. "Papa" as he was affectionately called was an honest person and a foot soldier for his family. A Heart o f gold and a Will o f iron speak of his strength. Papa was a hard worker but never overlooked his family, providing a modest life for them. He retired after many years from Riverside Mill and W H . Reeves Construction. The family shared many days' of pleas ure and everlasting joy. Later, this same love and attention was given to his grandchildren, teaching them and reminding them o f the necessities o f life. He was preceded in death by one son, George (Pete) Murray, Jr. and four brothers, Charlie McGruder, Robert McGruder, Clarence McGruder and Alphonzo Leverett.
A time to serve...
George loved the Lord. At an early age, he was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia.
