REV. N. T. YOUNG, SR., Minister Officiating
OUR J OE Y
Born on November 15, 1956 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, we named him Joseph for his father. Almost immediately we started calling him Joey and to all the relatives and friends who knew him, he was affectionately called "Joey".
Being a military family, we left Fort Jackson in I960 for an assignment in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1963, we were assigned to Fort Gordon, Georgia, where Father was retired from the Army and we made Augusta our home.
Here, Joey entered first grade at W. S. Hornsby Elementary School and completed the first and second grades in one term. On complet ing his seventh grade work at Hornsby, he went on to Tubman Junior High School completing the eighth and ninth grades.
In May, 1967, he was converted and baptized at Thankful Bap tist Church by Rev. Young. He has been very active in the Sunday School, the Youth Choir and as a Junior Usher.
He was "all boy". He liked school, sports, girls, and the things that made living interesting. He was good, faithful, and dependable when the time and circumstances required them he was mischievious and playful when seriousness was not important. His days were short but filled with love and wholesome living.
His life was like a candle So pure, so brief, but Oh, so bright With beams of love, he filled each heart And made it hard for us to part. Our hearts are sad, but this we know When God called, he had to go.
Good night, our "Joey".
Joseph and Ethel L. Mitchell, parents; Reginald and James, brothers; Garen, Donaval, and Neitha (in-law), sisters; Valarie, Ken, and Rod ney, niece and nephews; Henry Mitchell and Charles Loving, uncles; Frances Lee and Annie L. Johnson, aunts.
