** OBITUARY **
Chaplain Ray Everet Miller, retired Army Lieutenant Colonel of 533 Fairfield W ay, Evans, Georgia, departed this life Friday, March 17, 1989.
Chaplain Miller, a native of Conowingo, Maryland had lived in Augusta, Georgia since 1985. He was retired from the US Army after twenty (20) years of dedicated service. He served as a chaplain at Fort Dix, New Jersey; Baumholder, Germany; Fort Lewis, Washington; Viet Nam; Fort Monmonth, New Jersey; Schweinfurt, Germany; Korea; and served two tours at the School of Religion, in the Houston Medical Center, Houston, Texas. During the period of time that he was in service, Chaplain Miller earned many service awards to include the Purple Heart from Viet Nam, and the Meritorious Service Award.
Chaplain Miller earned a Baccaluareate Degree from Morgan State College in Baltimore, Maryland; a Masters in Theology from the International Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia; a Master of Arts in Religious Education from the Hartford Seminary Foundation, in Hartford, Connecticut; a Masters of Arts in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Chaplain Miller was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, taught the Progressive Bible Class and taught a religion course for the National Baptist Seminary.
Chaplain Miller is survived by his wife Christine Wilkins; and one daughter, Carol Angelec Miller, of Greenbelt, Maryland; two sisters, Annie Boddy, Conowingo, Maryland and Irene Brown, Newark, New Jersey; five brothers, Bobby Miller, of Smyrna, Delaware; Vernon Miller, Brooklyn, New York; Vincent Miller, Oxford, Pennsylvania; Andrew Miller, Leonard Miller, Glen Burnie, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
