The offering of Incense
The role o f incense in spiritual cerem onies is a human universal expression to symbolize purity, protection, and praise. Vivid examples are the Magi's gift of frankincense and myrrh to the Infant Jesus, the Roman Catholic smoke procession during High Mass, and the burning of sage in the American Indian sweat lodge. Similarly, Nichiren Buddhists offer incense, during prayer, in praise o f the eternity o f life. Please join in this offering to honor the eternal life o f Miles.
