Reflections of Life
- Psalm 90:10 ~ The days o f our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason o f strength they befourscore years,
yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and wefly away.
Jerry T, Merriweather was bom August 1,1918 to the late
Henry and Katie Merriweather. He departed this life December 1,2009 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Jerry was converted and baptized at Poplar Spring Baptist Church. He later joined Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served the ministry as a Deacon, which he loved so very much. Jerry also sang with the Male Chorus, which brought him much joy. He was a member of Tabernacle Church for more than 40 years.
Jerry gave four years of srvice to his country during World War II as a soldier in the United States Army. In civilian life he worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital until he retired.
He met and married the lady and love of his life, Thelma Cook. To this union a son was born, Daryl Quinn Merri weather. Father and son have shared a special connection, a loving and unbreakable bond, that has lasted for 55 years. His love for Thelma has never diminished and his devotion has been a blessing, shining bright as he tended to his wife through her illness.
Jerry leaves to cherish his loving memories; his beloved wife, Thelma Cook Merriweather; his son, Daryl Quinn Merriweather; daughter-in-law, Yvette Fuller Merriweather; three grand children, Danica Merriweather, Washington, DC; Daryl Q. Merriweather, II, Augusta, Georgia; Davina Merriweather, Washington, DC; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Eustace Merriweather; two sisters, Georgia (James) Pugh, Augusta, Georgia, Estell Dixon, Augusta, Georgia; three brothers, Frank (Barbara) Merriweather, Hartsdale, New York; Lawrence (Ella) Merriweather, Scotch Plains, New Jersey; Joe (Jeanette) Merriweataher, Augusta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends join in celebrating his life.
