OBITUARY
Washington, Georgia November 24, 1963.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and shall there be no more death; neither sor row, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain. Rev. 24:4.
Mr. Willie E. McLendon was born in Wilkes County and spent his life here.
On Friday November 22nd., 1963 at 5:38 A. M. he answered the call of death.
He became a Christian at an early age and be gan his work in Christ in the Flint Hill Baptist Church and has been a faithful and ardent worker.
He was educated in the Elementary High School of Wilkes County. After which he received his B. S. degree from Clark College and taught in Wilk es County School. He also received a Masters de gree from Atlanta University. He served as Princi pal at the North Wilkes Elementary School.
He was Deacon of his church, secretary of the Wilkes Gospel Chorus Singing Convention, Secretary of the Masonic Lodge, member of the Gridiron Club, and Advance Sunday School teacher, member of the National Educational Association, Georgia Teachers Education, Executive Chairman of Boy Scouts, Wilk es County Teachers Association, American Teachers Association.
He never refused a task because he was already too busy, or because he was too tired.
Today we are silent to pay tribute to a person who has lived among us as one who went about doing good and who always put Christ first in ev erything he did.

His survivors are: A devoter wife, Mrs. Thelma M:Lendon, two daughters, Gwendolyn and Carolyn, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert McLendon, all of Washington, Ga., one brother Mr. Paul McLendon of Atlanta, Ga., a grandmother and a host of relatives and friends.
If Mr. McLendon had a creed other than to serve his God and his fellowman, it must have been some thing like this:
If I had but one year to live; One year to help; One year to give; One year to love; One year to bless; One year of better things to stress; One year to sing; One year to smile; To brighten earth a little while; One year to sing my Masters Praise; A year to fill with work days; One year to strive for a reward. When I should stand before my Lord, I think that I would spend each day, In just the very self-same way. That 1 do now. For from afar The call may come to cross the bar, At any time, and 1 must be Prepared to meet eternity. So if I have a year to live, Or just a day in which to give A pleasant smile, A helping hand A mind that tries to understand A fellow creature when in need Tis one with me 1 take no heed: But try to live each day He sends To serve my gracious Master end.
