The Obituary
MRS. ELLEN ALBERTHA BOVIAN McINTOSH, of Route 2, Cordova, formerly of 1780 Maxwell Place, Orangeburg, died Saturday at The Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Mrs. McIntosh was m arried to Clement 0 . McIntosh of Winnsboro, S.C. Her only daughter preceded her in death.
Mrs. McIntosh was born in Orangeburg County, the daughter of the late John W. Bovian and Rebecca Zimmerman Bovian. She received her early education in Orangeburg where she entered South Carolina Normal and Industrial School (Presently, S.C. State College), in the third grade and continued her education there until receiving her B.S. degree in Home Economics.
Mrs. McIntosh gave more than a half-century of dedicated service to the education profession of the State having taught at Latta. Dillion County; Centinary, Marion County; St. Mark, Allendale County, Riverside High School, Saluda County before retiring in 1972. She also worked in Johnston Edgefield County.
Mrs. McIntosh joined the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church at a very early age. She served faithfully and willingly during her youth. She was a member of Ward IV and the Floral Club. Mrs. McIntosh was a member of the South Carolina Education Association, the National Education Association, the State and National Organization of Home Economic Teachers, the County Associations in the Counties where she worked.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Annie B. Jenkins, Darlington, S.C., Mrs. Byrdia B. Sherrod, Cordova, S.C., Mrs. Carrie B. Jenkins, Jenkinsville, S.C. and Mrs. Rosa Lee Gerald, Society Hill, S.C.; one brother, Willie Bovian, Somerdale, N.J. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
