Annette Senolia Sherard McFadden was bom on May 1, 1936 to the late Lewis James Sherard and Daisye Emma Sherard of Anderson, South Carolina. Annette was the seventh child born to this union. On March 1, 1958, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Warren McFadden. This union was blessed with a daughter, Terri Denise and a son, Rodney Warren. At an early age, she joined Mountain View C.M.E. Church in Iva, South Carolina. After moving to Bath, South Carolina, she continued her spiritual growth at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she remained a loyal member and an active participant in the life ofthe church. She served faithfully in the Sanctuary Choir, in the James Singleton Sunday School Class, and as the church librarian. Education was always of paramount importance in the Sherard household. This was a belief which was passed on to Annette. She completed her elementary and high school education in the Anderson County School System. She began her higher education at Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina, but received her B.S. from South Carolina State College, Orangeburg, South Carolina. She later received her Masters Degree in Library Science from Atlanta University. After leaving South Carolina State, Annette began her career at Jefferson High School, where she served as an inspiration and mentor to many of the students of Aiken County. In 1962, she moved to the Richmond County School System, initially Telfair Elementary and later East Augusta Middle School (formerly Sand Bar Ferry Junior High School), where she remained until her retirement in 1990. She always had great pride in her work and often referred to
To her family she was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife and mother. As a friend she was unsurpassed.
