On June 14, 2003, the Lord added another flower to his garden, Donald L. McCloud, Sr. Donald was born on May 28, 1940, to the late Beulah Jones and William McCloud. He was the youngest of nine children.
Donald received Christ at an early age and joined the church family at William Temple Christian Methodist Church. He was educated in the public school system of Winter Haven, Polk County, Florida and graduated from high school in 1959.
On June 12, 1960, Donald was united in Holy Matrimony to Pennie Lamar. Of this 43 year union, they were blessed with four devoted sons. Donald was inducted into the United States Army, where he served many tours including a tour in Vietnam. In 1981, after 20 years of dedicated service, Staff Sergeant Donald L. McCloud, Sr. received an Honorable Discharge and retired. He later joined the staffs of SRS (Wackenhut), University Hospital, Richmond County Sheriffs Department and Gracewood State School and Hospital as a public safety officer.
Although, Donald was actively involved with his family and with employment, he never forgot his Christian covenant. Uniting with the church family of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church under the leadership of pastor, Andrew Johnson, Donald was a faithful servant of God and served as Trustee and a member of the Gospel Choir and Male Chorus.
Donald leaves to cherish his memories, a beloved and devoted wife, Pennie L. McCloud; four loving sons, Donald (Scarlet) McCloud, Jr., Jacksonville, Florida, Karl (Veronica) McCloud, Hephzibah, Georgia, Richard (Margaret) McCloud, Woodbridge, Virginia and Lee (Sayaka) McCloud, Honolulu, Hawaii; thirteen grandchildren, LaVona, Donald, III, LaCreshia, Whitney, Nicole, Brandi, Shelby, Karl, II, Melissa, Gregory, Scott, Kaitie and Noah; three great-grandchildren, Kelsea, Logan and Nicholas; four sisters-in-law, Rosa Seabooks, Ruby Lamar and Barbara Lamar, all of Monticello, Florida and Selma Bright, Saint Petersburg, Florida; one brother-in-law, Berry Seabrooks, Montecello, Florida; three Godchildren, Latina Humphries, Jukalya Johnson and Travis Perkins; four loving friends, James and Katie Perkins, Judy Callahan and Harold Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, others relatives and friends.
