Freedom Prayer
By Samuel D. Me Cain, Sr.
O ur Father in heaven, your servants have come before Thee w ilh humble hearts and bowed heads, once again, around the walls of unjust hate, bias and bigotry. We are constantly meeting and m arch ing a ro u n d these w a lls as th e y marched a ro u n d the w a lls o f Jericho in the days of old. W e pray to Thee w ith the most m agnificent p o w e r that you may cause these walls to fall and crum ble at our feet. So th a t w e m ay w a lk in and e n jo y the rig h ts and p riv ile g e s th a t are ours. We pray Thy richest blessings upon each and every one w h o has gathered here in the cause o f freedom and justice. We pray that you g iv e us the courage to p u ll o u r sw o rd s o u t o f the g o ld e n sands o f tim e and f i g h t on u ntil w e have w o n th e victo ry. So th a t w e all can e n jo y and sing to g e lh e r. This is the land w h e r e m y fa th e r d ie d and it is ih e land o f Liberty. These and all o th e r blessings I pray.
AMEN.
