** OBITUARY **
Mr. W alter Mays, Jr., son of the late Mr. W alter Mays, Sr. and Mrs. Anne Laura Mays, was born in Edgefield County, South Carolina August 7, 1916, and departed this life on September 16, 1985 at the University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.
In 1929 he was converted and baptized at the Old Macedonia Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his illness. He also served in the United States Air Force during World W ar II.
In 1947 he was united in Holy Wedlock to Julia Butler Mays. To this union ten children were born.
He leaves to mourn his passing a devoted wife, Mrs. Julia B. Mays; five daughters, Ms. Mattie L. Mays, Mrs. Julia M. W right and Ms. Gwendolyn D. Mays of Augusta, Georgia, Ms. Diane Mays and Ms. Paula Mays of North Augusta, South Carolina; five sons, Mr. W alter Mays, III, Mr. Henry F. Mays and Mr. Charlie B. Mays of Augusta, Georgia; Mr. Francis F. Mays and Mr. Bernard L. Mays of North
South Carolina; two step-sons, Mr. Vernon Dawkins and Mr. W illiam Dawkins of Rochester, New York; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Edwards, Graniteville, South Carolina, Ms. Deloris Mays of Belvedere, South Carolina ,and Ms. Effie Jean Mays, Buffalo, New York; four brothers, Mr. Justus Mays, Mr. Taylor Mays and Mr. Eddie Harris of North Augusta, South Carolina and Mr. Larry Mays of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ju lia Mays and Mrs. Georgia Mays of North Augusta, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Mr. George Edwards of Graniteville, South Carolina; twenty-seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
