MRS. REITA HAMMOND MARSHALL WAS BORN IN SALUDA COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE THOM AS F. AND ANNA DRAKE HAMMOND. SHE PASSED AT HER RESI DENCE, 400 BAUKNIGHT FERRY ROAD, SALUDA, SOUTH CARO LINA, ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 29,1982.
She attended the Saluda County Public Schools and she was a grad uate of South Carolina State College where she received a degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Marshall taught in the Newberry County and Saluda County Public School Systems for many years.
As a faithful and devoted Christian, she was a member of the Ridge Hill Baptist Church where she was a chartered member of the Har mony Choir. In addition to her church affiliation, she was active in different organizations, such as, Order of Eastern Star - Peerless Chapter No. 335, the Royal Workers Club, Saluda County Retired Teachers Association and the State and National Retired Teachers Association.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Harold H. Marshall.
A life lived as Mrs. Marshall lived cannot die, but will live on in the hearts and memories and ideals of all those who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories; her devoted husband, Mr. Harold H. Marshall of the home; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Virginia Hayes of Gainesville, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Flossie H. Clinkscale of Orangeburg, S.C.; two brothers, Mr. Thomas A. Hammond of Aiken, S.C., and Mr. James D. Hammond of Florence, S.C.; three stepgranddaughters; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Eva Jenkins of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Flossie G. Hammond of Aiken, S.C., and Mrs. Vera N. Hammond of Florence, S.C.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Clarence Clinkscale of Orangeburg, S.C.; three paternal aunts, one maternal aunt; one maternal uncle; one niece, three nephews; three great nieces, four great nephews; and a host of other close relatives and many sorrowing friends.
