o. ^L&vjii was born February 12, 1927 to the late Ida Lou and Charlie H. Walker in Jenkins County, Georgia.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized at Skull Creek Baptist Church.
She was united in holy matrimony to Albert Lewis, Sr. on February 14, 1947, this union was blessed with six children; one daughter, Joice Ann who preceded her in death. This union united her with a new church family, New Springfield Baptist Church where she was a dedicated and faithful member for more than fifty years. She sang with the Senior Choir, re-organized the Senior Mission and served as its President, until her health failed.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and neighborhood mother.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2003, Mrs. Lewis peacefully made her transition from this earthly life into the presence of God.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of fifty-six years, Albert Lewis, Sr.; five children, Alma L. (Sammy) Stephenson, Augusta, Georgia, Albert (Lenora) Lewis, Jr., Madison, Tennessee, Charlotte M. (William) Haynie, Effie M. Lewis, Melinda (Charlie) Williams, all of Augusta, Georgia; one brother, Charles R. Walker, Savannah, Georgia; three sisters, Lucinda Oliver and Pearlie Ruth Scott, both of Millen, Georgia and Johnnie Mae Gordon, Augusta, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Don'tgrieve for me, far now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, Ifound that place at the close ofday.
Ifmy parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times ofsorrow, I wish you the sunshine oftomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart, and share with me, God wanted me NOTfyHe set me free.
The Family wishes to express their profound gratitude to each and everyone for all of your acts of kindness that have been shown during her illness and our bereavement. May God forever bless each and everyone of you.
