** OBITUARY **
On the evening of M arch 3,1991, the angel of silence came into the home o f Rev. John R. Kemper and with chilly fingers sealed his lips and the breath of life left his body. A loving father and devoted husband; his soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain, to a place of rest and reward.
John Kemper, Sr. was born January 25, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio. He was converted and baptized at a very early age. As a child, he was trained in the ways of the Lord. John was not selfish, and as he grew into manhood he felt that he needed someone to be by his side to enjoy the blessings o f God with him, so on June 5, 1960, he entered into holy m atrim ony with D orothy Cook. To this union a son was born. To his family, he provided all of their needs within the will o f God. God was always first in his life, and it was only a few years ago when he was called to the ministry. He was ordained into the m inistry, June 28,1987, at O livet Baptist Church. To further his knowledge in G od's W ord, he attended the American Baptist Theological Seminary.
Rev. Kemper was employed at the Richmond County Tax Commissioner's Office as an Administrative Assistant. He was a faithful and dependable employee until his illness required him to take a leave of absence. Rev. Kemper was also a retired M aster Sergeant of the United States Army. He served God, he served mankind and he served his country. W e can truly say that this w orld has lost a valiant Christian soldier.
He leaves to mourn a devoted wife, Mrs. Dorothy Kemper; one son, John R. Kemper, Jr.; his m other, Mrs. M ary Kemper; an adopted mother, Mrs. Olena Garland of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Richard Kemper and James Garland, both of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Christine Hill, Columbus, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alesia Kemper; one precious grandson, Dejon Jalil Kemper, both of Augusta and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.
