OBituary
Robbie Blount Jones entered into rest Friday, February 24, 2012, at Trinity Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. Robbie was born in Augusta, Georgia, on May 24, 1910, to Esau Blount and Mary Bowman Blount, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the wife of the late Edward Jones for 45 years.
At the age of 16, Robbie joined Tabernacle Baptist Church where she sang in the Gospel Choir, served faithfully on the Red Rose Auxiliary, the Missionary Society and the Mother's Board.
Mother Robbie was a graduate of Haines Institute, and she was employed for many years at The Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company and Gephert Drug Store.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving, devoted niece Betty Blount Bennings, Augusta, Georgia; other nieces and nephews: Joseph Blount, Jr., Irvington, New Jersey; Roslyn Edgerton, Newark, New Jersey; Harold Blount, Orlando, Florida; Brenda J. Blount, Newark, New Jersey; Annice Blount, Bushkill, New Jersey; Isaac Blount, Washington, D.C.; James Blount, San Antonio, Texas; Adrian Blount, Tampa, Florida; Mary Ann Rucker, Savannah, Georgia; Emma Gibson, Sacramento, California; William Appling, Augusta, Georgia; a beloved great-niece, Rhondi B. Bennings, Lawrenceville, Georgia; godchildren, Edward Fletcher and Georgette R. Shaw; and a host of cousins and loving friends.
