M rs. W ilhelm ina Ju lia B lount Johnson was horn in
Waynesboro, Burke (bounty, Georgia, on June 2 8 1927, to the late Reverend and Mrs. Thomas Watson Blount, Sr.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined the Metropolitan Baptist Church family where she served on many auxiliaries. Wilhelmina received her education from the Burke CxHinty Public School System and graduated from Waynesboro High and Industrial School. She attended Spclman (College in Atlanta, Georgia and later received her Bachelor o f Science degree from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. In continuing her education, Wilhelmina received her Masters Degree from Columbia University in New York. She had a beautiful voice and she loved to sing and play the piano. She spent many years as an educator and retired after over 30 years o f teaching from the Burke (xninty Public School System.
Mrs. Johnson was married to J. Leon Johnson o f Greensboro, North Carolina and later married Harold L. Johnson o f Alabama. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Watson (Mary) Blount, Jr. and Malcolm Claiborne (Lcola) Blount.
On Thursday, July 13, 2 0 0 6 , Wilhelmina Blount Johnson made the transition from life into the presence o f God's domain. She leaves memories that will be forever cherished in the hearts o f her loved ones, her loving daughter, Karen D. Johnson, Augusta, Georgia; two loving sons, Dr. Malcolm L. Johnson, Atlanta, Georgia and Harold L. Johnson, Augusta, Georgia; one brother, Cameron H. (Cx>nstance) Blount, Sr., South Floral Park, New York; four grandchildren, Malcolm, Jr., Megan, Morgan and Chad; a special dear and devoted friend, Lt. (x>l. (Ret.) Daniel Boatwright; and a host o f nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
