OBITUARY
Mother Hattie Mae Mitchell Johnson was born to the late Rev. Joel Mitchell and to the late LZadie Ramsey Mitchell on March 20, 1922 in Johnston, SC. She was the ninth child born out of thirteen children. She quietly and willingly departed this life on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at Aiken Regional Hospital, Aiken, SC. She received her education in the Edgefield County School System. She loved to read her Bible and believed in praying to the Lord.
**
She was married to the late Pickens (Pick) Johnson in 1940 and was blessed with two children: Nathaniel Johnson (preceded her death) and Ruby M. Johnson. Love constantly surrounded her life. She was well known throughout her neighborhood and church. Mother Johnson was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost at the old Bacon PlaceBacon Chapel F.B.H. Church, which was founded and organized by her father, the late Rev. Joel Mitchell. She was faithful to the Lord and did not want to make him ashamed. She was determined to live holy for the Lord. In 1957, she and her husband moved to Washington, DC where she became a childcare provider from 1962 to 1973 to several children. She joined Tried Stone F.B.H. Church where she was faithful in serving as a Junior Church Mother, on the Finance Board, as a member of the Gospel Chorus, on the Usher Board, and as a Sunday school scholar. Also, she was a member of the Young Ladies of Honor Society. She relocated with her daughter to Johnston, SC in 1978 and transferred their membership to Bacon Chapel F.B.H. Church. She served as a Church Mother, as the Assistant Directress of the Noon Day Prayer, as the Vice President of the Gospel Choir, as the Vice President of Missionary Department, on the Finance Committee, as the Sunday School Treasurer, and on the Usher Board. Her other favorite songs were "Jesus Is Mine", "Everywhere I Go, Everywhere I Be", "Ive Been Saved All Day and Im Glad", and "Hallelujah. The Storm is Passing Over". Her favorite hymn was "A Charge to Keep I Have A God to Glorify". Her favorite scriptures were Psalms 121: 1-2 and St. Matthews 5:8. Her favorite wordings were "Im trying to make it". And her motto was "Treat people the way you want to be treated. Love the Lord at all times, and be faithful to your church and the Lord will bless you!" Mother Johnson exhibited a humble, loving, and caring spirit. She was direct in giving advice. She loved the Christian walk and always tried to help someone along the way. Her work was done in love, always smiling. She was patriotic, dependable, and devoted to the principles and standards of the F.B.H. Church of God of Americas. She rendered 61 years of loyal, dependable, and dedicated service to the Lord. She leaves to cherish precious memories: a devoted, loving daughter, Ruby M. Johnson Johnston, SC; three sisters: Carrie Bell Walker - Johnston, SC, Ida Williams - Charlotte, NC, and Rebecca Boyd - Silver Spring, MD; three sister-in-laws: Emma (Jesse) Singleton - Edgefield, SC, Rose Lee Johnson- Washington, DC, and Effie Miller - Bronx, NY; one brother-in-law: Bishop NJ. Roach - Columbia, SC; two devoted nieces: Mattie (James) J. Johnson Washington, DC, and Sarah (Emmanuel) Watkins - Edgefield, SC. One godson, Ronald (Warrena) Mathis; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

TRIBUTE
Miss Me- 5f Le/ Me Go
When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone
Its all a part of the Masters plan, A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me, but let me go.
