Mr. Wilber Johnson, Sr., affectionately called "Daddy Wilber," was born on January 12,1918, to the parents of Mrs. Alafair Wilson and the late Mr. Samjohnson. Wilber departed this life September 24,1987.
On November 27,1935, Wilber was joined in Holy Matrimony to Beatrice Ross. To this union, eight children were born, one of whom, Wilber (Dirk) Johnson, Jr., preceded him in death.
For 30 years, Mr. Johnson was the proprietor of the Esquire Bar and Package Shop. He was also the founder and former Vice-President of the Sportsman Boat Club.
Mr. Johnson was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was like a ray of sunshine to the many lives he has touched. He dedicated his life to the services of the church, his family, and to mankind.
He leaves to mourn, an abundant immediate family and even a greater extended family: his wife of 52 years, Beatrice Johnson; his mother, Alafair Wilson; four sons, Richard L.Johnson, Joe E.Johnson, and Gienn Johnson all of Augusta, and Melvin R.Johnson of Atlanta; three daughters, Constance Carpenter, Eleanor Greene, and Brenda Hankinson; five daughters-in-law, Ida, Janice, Clara, Mater and Barbara; three sons-in-law, Lindsey Carpenter, Nathaniel Greene, and Rube Hankinson, Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Lawuna Berrien, Lawnside, New Jersey, Mildred Berrien and Katie Gilbert of Augusta, Georgia; twenty-seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dedicated To My Husband
I looked to you for happiness, and you brought it without even trying.
I turned to you for comfort, and your arms were open wide. . . Ive shared all the joys of life with you, all the ups and downs and little pleasures that make a life together so rewarding, and through them learned how precious love can be
between a husband and wife. Love, Mur

How We Feel . . .
Often we find ourselves thinking ofyou, Dad. . . ofthe support and encouragement you ve given us over the years.
Of your generosity, kindness and guidance, and especially of the many talks weve had together . . .
Its when we think of these things that we realize how much it has helped us to know, you ve had many of the same dreams and doubts that we have had in life.
Though we know we don t say it often enough, We admire you Dad, and love you very much.
From your Sons and Daughters
