Obituary
Many people are not aware of the significance of August 31, 1916. It was not a day that was written about in the pages of history books. It was not a day that was designated as a holiday. It was not even a day that would stand out in the minds across the country. However, it was a day that blessed the lives of the late Will Jennings and Mary Bell W eaver in Edgefield County, South Carolina. This was the day that Mary Jennings would make her grand entrance into the world in Edgefield County, South Carolina. Moreover, this glorious day set the stage for a lifelong journey that would touch a multitude of people.
She departed this life at her residence, 12 Old Graniteville Road, Graniteville, South Carolina after an extended illness on the afternoon of November 29,2005.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at the Bland Baptist Church, Johnston, South Carolina. In her early 20's, she moved to Hempstead, New York. Mary, later joined South Hempstead Baptist Church, under the pastorage of the late Reverend W.C. Evans and joined the Usher Board for several years. She attended Metropolitan School of Infant and Geriatric Care in New York and was certified with a Certificate on August 14,1970.
In 1972, she moved back to Graniteville, South Carolina and renewed her membership at Bland Baptist Church and was a member of the Senior Choir for many years. For several years, she worked for the Graniteville Company, Swint Division and received many Appreciation Awards. She had perfect attendance for the period of 1974-1976. Mary retired from Graniteville Company in the early 80's.
The most profound memories of her was the dedication of keeping the family together and preparing Christmas dinners. She was a warrior and the true backbone of the family.
Cherishing fond memories are: two (2) brothers, Willie (Eunie) Jennings of Hephzibah, GA and Albert Jennings of Graniteville, SC; two (2) sis ters, Mrs. Ora Bell Jennings of Graniteville, SC and Mrs. Viola Williams of North Augusta, SC; devoted, loving and caring nieces, Ms. Kisha M. Sneed of the home, Ms. Beverly A. Hall of Atlanta, G Aand niece/goddaughter, Ms. Deborah Williams of Alexandria VA; nephews, Keno (Van) Smiley of Graniteville, SC and Damien (Angel) Smiley of Woodbridge, VA; brother-in-law, Gratice Brown of Baltimore, MD; sister-in-law, Mrs. Jean Jennings of Graniteville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cous ins, other relatives and friends.

D on't grieve fur me, for now I 'm jree, I m following the [)uth Ood has laid for me. I took His hand when 1 heard l litn call, I turned my hack and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play, tasks left undone must stay that way, l found peace at the end o f the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times o f sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow, my life's been full, I savored much, good friends, good limes, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief, lift up your hearts, and share with me, Hod wanted me NOW, He has set me free.
