The next day the couple journeyed to Hempstead, New York for their honeymoon and remained there until 1975. Together they labored and purchased their first home, 109 Laurel Avenue, which became the central loca tion of their extended family and friends. He was a member and Trustee of South Hempstead Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. W.C. Evans and was a charter member of the South Hempstead Male Chorus. He was an entrepreneur of a landscape and rental property business and simultaneously worked for Grumman Aerospace until his retirement in 1975.
Upon retirement, Jerold and Alma moved to Titusville, Florida and became members of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He sung first tenor for the Titusville Mack Brothers Male Chorus. He established a landscape business and was employed until retirement from the McDonnell Douglas Corporation.
His life in New York and Florida did not prevent him from returning to his roots in South Carolina.
