Mrs. tRosanna ^eaCous Hunter, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2003, at University Hospital. She was born July 5, 1929, to the late Rile H. and Rebecca Luke Nealous in Columbia County, Georgia. She was the wife of Mr. James Hunter, who passed away March 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Ann Hunter.
Rosanna accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Sec ond Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Appling, Georgia. Her love and devotion to Christ was marked by years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Pierce Grove Baptist Church where she served in the Senior Choir, on the Deaconess Board, Womens Mission and participated in other church ministries.
She attended the public schools of Columbia and Richmond Counties and graduated from A.R. Johnson High School in 1947. She retired from Paine College in 1994 with 25 years of service as a Postal and Bookstore Clerk. She was a humanitarian and supported many educational, civic, social and religious organi zations. She enjoyed her membership in the Silver Stars Club of Greater Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, and she frequented the Golden Agers Luncheons at Elim Baptist Church.
Rosanna was one with a loving and giving heart who loved the Lord and expressed it. She was upfront and honest in her opin ions and always willing to help others. Her strong faith in God led her to unconditional love for her family, friends and acquain tances. As a testimony of her caring attitude, she ended her con versations with , "I love you."
She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn H. (Willie) Simon of Augusta, Georgia, and Mrs. Cynthia M. (Rev. Aldean) Henley of Simpsonville, South-Carolina; two sons, James L. (Sherri) Hunter of Fontana, California, and Lendell Hunter of Reidsville, Georgia; one brother, Ruben H. Luke of Augusta, Geor gia; four sisters, Helen (George) Johnson and Freda Mary (Rich ard) Dent, both of Evans, Georgia, Gladys N. (Dr. Robert B.) Sand ers of Lawrence, Kansas and Ann N. (Ellis M.) Johnson of Au gusta, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Charlie (Ida Mae) Hunter; one sister-in-law, Julia Hunter; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Simon, Tiffany S. (George) Myers, Marian Simon, Willie James "Jamie" (Tocara) Simon, Jamal Simon, Jerren Simon, Levon Hunter, and Jarvis Henley; eight great grandchildren, Nashera Stone, Britiney Stone, Kambria Haggins, George Myers, Jr., Javin Myers, DreShon Johnson, Jordan Johnson and Marquis Frazier; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
