Obituary
, daughter of Mrs. Cozette Houston and the late Deacon John Willie Houston and the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Sarah Collins Stokes, was born on June 25,1943 in Columbia County, Georgia.
At an early age of twelve, she joined Springfield Baptist Church and was baptized by the Rev. Robert Blossom in 1955. Growing up in Springfield she participated in many church organizations and was always willing and eager to do whatever she could to strenghthen the churchs program.
She recelVSCl hr Sducation in Richmond County Public Schools and graduated in 1961, from Lucy C. Laney High School. After graduating from high school, she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she remained for thirty years. Upon returning to Augusta, she resumed her work at Springfield where her love and dedication to Springfield was evident. She most recently served as President of Springfields Historical Committee. As a daughter and sister she was loyal, responsible, caring and loving.
Johnnies kind and gentle spirit wiii be remembered by all who knew her.
Johnnie is survived and will be dearly missed by her mother, Mrs. Cozette Houston; sisters, Elnore, Beveriy and Yvonne Houston; two brothers, Franklin (Beulah) McClattie and William (Kathryn) Houston; six nieces, Ella Hams, Debbie and Teiza McClattie, Stacey, Shanta and Risa Houston; three nephews, Darrell McClattie, Shaun and Tony Williams; seven great nieces, three great nephews; one aunt, Mrs. Katherine Flowers, one great uncle, Mr. Mose (Ruth) Crawford; and a host of other relatives and friends.
