OBITUARY
We, her children, rejoice in praise of our Mother, Lithia Butter Hill, in the abiding faith that she has left us to join our Father in Heaven. We would like to recount with you, a chronology of her ninety-six years with us.
Our beloved mother was the third of five children born to Seymore and Savannah Butler. She was born on the 15th of April in 1890 in Saluda County, South Carolina. She lived all of her pre-married life in Saluda County where she attended grade school and matured into a gentle but serious woman. Upon completing all available school courses at the local country school, she then attended Morris Brown boarding school in Georgia, where she received a certificate allowing her to teach school. She continued her teaching career until she retired in 1955.
In the mid 1920's, Mother met and was united in holy matrimony to our dear Father, Carey L. Hill, of Greenwood, S.C. They resided in their home near Ninety Six until fire disaster necessitated their moving to Saluda County. From this union, six children were born, three boys and three girls.
Mother `grew up' in church and her entire family were members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Always a devout Christian, Mom was a loyal and enthusiastic sup porter of Sunday School, Church Services, and other activities sponsored by Plea sant Hill Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School classes, was a member of the Pleasant Hill Burial Aide Society, the Women's Aide Society No. 88 and a patron of the Eastern Star.
Mother was a good neighbor, a loving and devoted wife, and mother who worked hard and constantly admonishing her children to " work hard, help others, do unto others as you would have them to do unto you and love everybody." Mother's life theme seemed to be " Help Someone. '' She was well known for her hobby of putting bottoms in chairs with dried corn shucks. She even received a letter from the White House commending her for her many uses of the corn shuck.
Our beloved Mother had the misfortune of breaking her hip bone and later suffered a stroke which severely impeded her already limited eating ability. These, and other associated problems, became too much for her to bear. On December 5. 1986, the good Lord lightened her burden and took her home to rest. Even though she is gone in life, her spirit has not departed and is in evidence by her six children: Marion Hill, Edith Dozier, Edward Hill, Zelma Garret, John Hill, Savanna Davis; nineteen grand children and seventeen great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish precious memories two half-sisters, three half-brothers, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mom, we admired your gentle and spirited nature and your committment to a bet ter world. We love you and we thank you for being our Mother.
Lovingly submitted, THE FAMILY
TAKE TIME
Take time to think... it is the source of povser.
Take time to play... It is the secret of perpetual youth.
Take time to read... It is the fountain of wisdom.
Take time to pray... It is the greatest power on earth. Take time to love and be loved...
It is a God-given privilege. Take time to be friendly... It is the road to happiness.
Take time to laugh... It is the music of the soul.
Take time to give... It is too short a day to be selfish.
Take time to work... It is the pride of success. Take time to do charity...
It is the key to heaven.
Still Remembered
She's gone but still remembered, We'll see her face no more
But when we join the Angelic host We'll meet again beside the shore.
She's gone but still remembered, She left behind a lovely past,
We need not mourn her going away We'll see her when we die at last.
She's gone but still remembered, Great and noble was her life,
She withstood the sting of the strife She's gone but still remembered.
Her deeds were not motivated by love, We know she's resting with her God.
In the Heavens high above: Gone! Yes! but still remembered.

Mrs. Hill's Motto Helping Others
Lord, help me live from day to day In such a self forgetful way
That even when I kneel to pray My prayer shall be for others.
Let self be crucified, and slain And buried deep; and all in vain
May efforts to rise again, Unless to live for others.
Others, Lord, yes others Let this my motto be Help me live for others
That I may live for thee.
Members of the Pleasant Hill Burial Society
Mrs. Lithia Hill was a member of the Women's Home Aide Society for a number of years. She was a very faithful person in all her dealings with the society and we shall miss her kind words of wisdom and her sweet disposition. Her Lodge Number was
88. She was tireless when it came to helping others, and it seemed she would give you
everything she had. Because the Lord was going to give her so much more to give. She needed nothing to get to Heaven. She was already there.
Mrs. Irene Means and Mrs. Edith Patterson
Sister Lithia Hill, a sweet and loving person, has bidden farewell to this world to
spend Eternity with the angels in Heaven. . Her very words, " I Love Everybody , will still linger in our hearts. Her great personality and sharing with others are the goals
we should want to reach.
