was born May 6, 1914 to the late

Richard and Anna Washington. She entered into rest Sunday,

October 19, 2008.

She was married to the late Deacon Hardy Higgins who preceded her in death as well as two (2) sons.

Mrs. Higgins received her GED and completed one year of studies at Savannah State University. She further her education at Augusta Technical School and received an L.P.N. license. She retired from the University Hospital Mental Clinic.

Mrs. Higgins was a faithful member of the Beulah Grove Baptist Church were she served in many ministries until her health failed. Was as a member of the Senior Choir, Matron Circle, Senior Missionary Ministry, the Health Care Ministry, the B. I. Vernon Ministry, the Judah Tribe and the founder of the Card and Craft Ministry. She also sent get well cards to the sick and shut members of our church regularly.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Lavonnia H. Taylor, Augusta, GA and Joan H. (Jasper) Stringer, Columbus, GA; one son, Marvin (Hattie) Higgins, 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, a dedicated caretaker, Mrs. Betty Blue and many friends.
