On Monday, July 31, 2000, God summoned Juanita from labor to reward to take her earthly rest into eternal life.

was bom May 27, 1936, to the late Joseph and Geneva Holmes, o f

Augusta, Georgia. She was the eighth o f twelve children o f which five siblings preceded her in death.

She was educated in the public schools o f Richmond County. She attended C. T. Walker Elementary, A. R. Johnson and Lucy C. Laney High School. She furthered her education by attending a nurse's training course for which she received a certificate.

At an early age, she confessed to Christ and was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership o f the late Rev. E. A. Moss.

In her service to God and her church, she served in various capacities in Mount Calvary. She thoroughly enjoyed ushering with the Ushers' Ministry and the Usher's Union o f Georgia. She served also with the following ministries: C.P.A. Ministry, Partners for Progress, Christmas China Banquet, Kitchen Committee, Senior Citizens Ministry, May Birth Month Fellowship Group, and completed the Soul Winning Workshop.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Willie Hickson. To this union nine children were bom o f which two preceded her in death.

She had a great love for God, her family and her church. She was a kind hearted, generous and a loving person in her own way. She touched the lives o f many as she ministered throughout the CSRA.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a devoted husband, Mr. Willie Hickson; children, Bridgette Middlebrooks, Valarie Middlebrooks, James Middlebrooks, o f Atlanta, GA; Janet Hickson, Jacqueline (Curtis) Brownlee, Rachelle Hickson and Michelle Hickson; two stepchildren, Willie Mae Williams and Marion Hickson, all o f Augusta, GA; five sisters, Gladys Jones, o f Bronx, NY; Barbara McCoy, o f Washington, DC; Ophelia (Frank) Brinson, o f Augusta, GA; Mildred Moss, o f New Port News, VA; and Margaret Lumpkin, o f El Paso, TX; one brother, Rev. Anthony (Janice) Holmes, o f New Port News, VA; three uncles and one aunt; brother-in-law, George Grant, o f Brooklyn, NY; twenty grandchildren, three great grandchildren, along with a host o f nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
