Tony attended Ursula Collins Elementary School, Levi White Elementary School, T.W. Josey High School and George P. Butler High School. He was member of the George P. Butler High School's JR O TC and graduated among Butler's first integrated class. Tony attended Augusta College and Augusta Area Technical School. He received two degrees: Electrical Technology and Instrumentation Tech nology. Tony was a member o f the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, where he also received a degree in Electrical Technology.
Tony began his career with the Georgia Power Company in 1982, where he was a Senior Supply Clerk. He was employed with them for tw enty-three years in various locations: Augusta, Waynesboro, Statesboro, Evans and Millen. In addition, he worked off-site setting up command stations during disasters across a number o f states. His last mission included helping to restore power in the areas hit by Hurricane Katrina.
On September 23, 1983, Tony married the love o f his life and soul mate, Tarshi Emery. On January 27, 1986, they were blessed with one son, Bryant Antonio Herndon.
Tony enjoyed life! He was a champion fisherman, deer hunter, and enjoyed playing the game o f golf. A great bowler, Tony received numerous bowling awards; however, his greatest gift was coaching young bowlers on Saturday mornings. Most importantly, he loved being around family and friends.
On Thursday, March 23, 2006, he received a special call from the Lord to come home. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving, caring and devoted wife, Tarshi Emery Herndon; son, Bryant A. Herndon; parents, Clois & Mary Herndon; mother-in-law, Dochia Emery; three sisters, Monica (Antonio) Stallings, Piccola (Leroy) Smith and Bernadette (John) Baker; three uncles, Alvin Herndon, James Herdnon and Luther (Jessie) Wilson; five aunts, Charlene Herndon, Flora (Clarence) Sykes o f Carlton, Georgia, Hazel Wilson, Mattie Coleman and Edna Stuckey o f New York; godparents, James (Mar garet) Bryant; four nephews, Xavier Stallings, Avrion Smith, Evrin Smith, Alexander Baker; one niece, Ashley Baker; best friend, Donald Davis; and a host o f other relatives and friends.
