O bituary
On June 9, 1923, <J)eacon ^oftnnie "brother"
H e n d e rs o n , was born to the late Henry and Lizzie Mae Henderson in Columbia County, Georgia.
He was baptized at Pierce Grove Baptist Church where he was also ordained as a Deacon.
Some years later, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Geneva Dunn. To this union three daughters were bom, Minnie Louise Henderson and Eva Mae Henderson, who have preceded him in death, and Christine Henderson Dent who currently resides in Appling, Georgia.
In July, 1966, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Lizzie Mays Henderson of Belvedere, South Carolina, with whom thirty-one years of marriage have been celebrated.
Deacon Johnnie "Brother" Henderson was a lover of gospel music. He was manager for the gospel group, "The Songs of Love" for fifty-eight years, traveling throughout the CSRA and abroad. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Those that knew Johnnie were deeply touched by him and will miss him dearly.
He leaves to honor and cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Lizzie Henderson; one adoring daughter, Mrs. Christine H. Dent, Appling, GA; one brother, Dea. Wallace Henderson, Martinez, GA; two sisters, Sadie Perrin, Bronx, NY and Lizzie Williams, Martinez, GA; six grandchildren, Tammy Dent, Tyson Dent, Tonya Dent, Todd Dent, Tyler Dent and Travis Dent, all of Appling, GA; one granddaughter-in-law, Tonya Overton Dent, Appling, GA; two great grandchildren, Justin Rolland and Raven C. Dent, Appling, GA; one-son-law, Dea. Doyle Dent, Appling, GA; one brother-in-law, Joseph Stokes, Bronx, NY; three sister-in-law, Annie (Thomas) Keys, North Augusta, SC; Minister Edith (Leonard) Mathis and Carrie (Jessie) Price, both of Belvedere, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
