Our visit here is but a pause along the path to glory, Our lives may seem unfinished . . . an interrupted story. Of our loved ones we may wonder just why they could not stay, and visit here among us, one more hour, one more day. But the journey must continue and so onward we go, to somewhere far more beautiful than any place we know. Although our hearts are saddened, we find great comfort, consolation and hope in the teachings of God concerning life and death . . . "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1
A Time To Be Bom - ^ElhrtfrgB JMattkmssmt, the male paternal twin bom to Rube Hankinson, Sr.
and the late Anna Hankinson, began life's story on March 23, 1935, in Aiken County, South Carolina. 'Bo' as he was affectionately called was the youngest of six children. A Time To Plant - Eldridge received his secular education in the public schools of South Carolina. Upon completion of High School, he furthered his education by attending Tyler Barber College where he became a skilled Master Barber. For more than thirty years, Eldridge was dedicated and dependable employee of the Youth Development Center, retiring as Warehouse supervisor in 1993. concurrently, he was affiliated with Sonny's Barber Shop as a part time barber and an independent operator.

Just as Eldridge was faithful in his service to others, he was faithful in his service to God. Reared in a Christian home, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Eldridge was a devoted member of Old Storm Branch Baptist Church as well as a regular worshipper with his wife at Cumming Grove Baptist Church. Truly, his kind heart, pleasant disposition, loving and generous spirit was a daily testimony of his Christianity and a beautiful reflection of Christ, his redeemer.
A Time To Love - A man's true worth cannot be measured by the wealth he leaves behind, rather it must be measured by the love he has spread during his lifetime. Without question, Eldridge was a man of immeasurable worth who shared his loving heart and loving ways with all whom he met. He chose as his soul mate and life long companion the former Salome Tutt. On April 12,1950, they were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union was fruitful and blessed with one son and one daughter. Quiet and compassionate yet strong, Eldridge was truly a family man - a loving son, a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and exceptional grandfather, a caring nephew, a beloved brother and an adored uncle. Although his health was debilitating, he graciously accepted and fulfilled his responsibilities in every capacity. Truly, the love Eldridge demonstrated toward God, his family and his fellow man was a blessing to all lives whom he touched.
A Time To Die - Eldridge cherished the precious gift of life -- always displaying his beautiful smile and never complaining nor allowing his medical condition to lessen the joy of living. But god's all seeing eye could see the pain he hid from our view.
And so on the evening of July 9, 1997, God dispatched an angel of mercy to help his weary warrior complete his pilgrimage of life. Eldridge's homegoing was peaceful---- without struggle, he simply closed his eyes and slept safely in the arms of Jesus as he made his transition from mortality to inmortality. And thus his earthly story ended and his life in glory began. To God s keeping he leaves, a devoted wife of thirty eight years. Mrs. Salome Hankinson; two children, Mr. Bruce Hankinson, Hephzibah, Georgia; and Mrs. Angela H. Bruce, Piedmont, South Carolina; a father, Mr. Rube Hankinson, Sr., North Augusta, South Carolina; one sister, Dorothy H. Harris, North Augusta, South Carolina; two brothers, Rube Hankinson, Jr., Hephzibah, Georgia and William (Jerry) Hankinson, Aiken, South Carolina; one grandson, Chaz Bruce, Piedmont, South Carolina; one son-in-law, Dr. Jackson Bruce, Piedmont, South Carolina; five sisters-in-law, Marguarite T. Davis, Laura T. Blount, Augusta, Georgia; Jane R. Hankinson, Aiken, South Carolina; Frances T. Alexander, Detroit, Michigan, Brenda J. Hankinson, Hephzibah, Georgia, four brothers-in-law, Richard Davis and Thomas Blount, Augusta, Georgia; Chess Alexander, Detroit, Michigan, and Leotha Harris, North Augusta, South Carolina; one uncle, Golphin Hankinson, Augusta, Georgia; four aunts, Sarah Riley and Marie Scott, Augusta, Georgia; and Sadie Jones, North Augusta, South Carolina; and Bobbie J. Holmes, Washington, D.C.; several nieces, nephews and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
A Time To W eep. . . Shed only tears o fjoy. A Time To Laugh . . . Be happy in the memories o f the times zve shared.
A Time To Gain . . . Thank God for our lifetime together. A Time To L ose.. . Celebrate my homegoing.

There is no single way that we could, ever rate or rank you, except to say that you're the best For having us, we thank you! Your role as a father merits, our most special gratitude -
We'll long appreciate your warm, And loving attitude. True.parenting is more than bringing someone into being, Or giving them a place to stay, the basics guaranteeing. It's setting an example that is plain fo r them to see, It's knowing when to tell them yes, Or when to disagree. It's reaching out to understand, their questions and concerns, It's sensing the security, fo r which each child yearns. It's seeing the commitment, that good parenting involves, It's knowing a ll the problems, that a lovingfather solves. We're gratefulfo r the many times, Your gracious warmth has smiled, we'll always say with loving thanks - We're both glad to have been your child.

We cannot walk in your path, For the road you traveled was wide. You touched the hearts o f those you met; For you met them with a smile.
And as you journeyed along the way; You left a warmth so dear That memories o f you remained, And thefootsteps very clear. There is no way to say Good-bye, For you will be loved always.
The special way you've touched our lives, With your gentleness and caring ways. That certain smile, that look in your eyes, And the softness when you'd say, "Don't worry, everything is fin e." "It'll be okay." Would strengthen us More than you knew or more than we could say. But God has seen your promise And has called you to come home. You've gone away To your Mother's embrace, With God at the throne.
