- A uthor U nknown -
We little knew that morning, God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

JESSIE VIOLA THOMPSON HALL passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Her husband Isaac, her brother Irvin Jr., and her daughter Dawn were right by her side. Jessie Viola was born on May 16, 1949 in Augusta, Georgia to the late Irvin H. Thompson Sr. of Bartow, Georgia and Rhiner E. Davis o f Avera, Georgia.
Jessie was a long awaited gift for Rhiner who loved children and desired to have many. Jessie Viola was raised with love and discipline. Irvin Sr. taught her to love to work and Rhiner taught her to love Jesus. Jessie's favorite pastime was reading, which she did plenty of and often. Both of her parents highly valued education, so they were not at all surprised when she was allowed to skip the 4th grade at Peter H. Craig Elementary School. Jessie also attended John M. Thtt and Augustus R. Johnson Junior High School. In 1966, Jessie graduated from Thomas Walter Josey High School with its very first Senior Class. Jessie was the first female member of the all-male Rocket Club, mentored by Mrs. Rosa T. Beard. She was an outstanding performer and public speaker. Jessie attended Spelman College, Philips College, and Augusta School of Biblical Studies.
Jessie was a licensed and ordained minister, and in 1999, she and her husband founded Lighthouse ChristCentered Church. Jessie was intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate, generous, and very wise. Everyone who knew her loved her.
Jessie always talked about her childhood. She often told stories about growing up on Wallace Street in Hornsby Subdivision and being a very active member at her home church, Good Samaritan Baptist Church. She was extremely proud to have been baptized at Good Samaritan by its pastor, her cousin, the late Rev. E.A. Brown.

Jessie spent her life loving and sacrificing for her children, nurturing and educating her grandchildren, counseling and encouraging her church family, reminiscing and laughing with her friends, protecting and aiding her baby brother, enjoying and celebrating her husband, and trusting and relying on God to make all o f it alright.
Jessie's greatest joy was fulfilling the purpose for which God had created her. She was an awesome servant of the Lord. Jessie used every gift and talent that God blessed her with in order to be a living example of the Goodness, Grace, Mercy, Faithfulness, and Love of Almighty God. She had a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ and desired that everyone she knew would also. Jessie had a beautiful voice and she used it to sing and to speak the praises of God. Her mother would be so very satisfied. Jessie said to her husband, "It is well with my soul."
Jessie's memory will be carried on forever by: her faithful and committed husband, Pastor Isaac M. Hall; three daughters, Melisa Hall, Dawn (David) Duncan, and Samantha (Marc) Molina; the loves o f her life, her nine grandchildren, Damean RaShawn, Jasmine Jessyka, Jessica Alexzandria Niche', Christian Alain, Joycelyn Rebekah, Jessalyn Sarah, Zora Dolores, Clara Ann Marie, and Zemirah Elizabeth; cherished and beloved baby brother, Irvin H. Thompson, Jr.; niece, Hope L. Thompson; closest friends, Clementine Hendrick and Pecola Hullum Harris; her godson, Kamau Welcher; and by all of the loving relatives, inspiring church family, and lifelong friends whom she captivated with her genuine kindness and sweet spirit.
