Obituary
Margaret M- Gunter was born in Richmond County-Augusta. Georgia on March 23. 1928 to the late Margaret 'Williams. She departed this life on Thursday. August 25. 2011 after a briefillness. Treceding her in death were her siblings. 17ivian Brown. Edward Cewis. `Sonny Lewis. Joe Lewis. Taul Lewis. Silas Lewis a n d 1Willie M ae Lewis.
Margaret was a loving and cheerful woman who cared deeply for her family, friends, neighbors and parishioners. She was extremely fond o f mentoring children and those who were alone. She devoted herselfto serving others throughout her life and was an unselfish servant who carried out her faith through her acts o f kindness and generosity.
Margaret was educated in the public schools ofRichm ond County-Augusta. During her early years, she was employed at the famed Richmond Jiotel where she earned respect as an excellent s ta ff member who took pride in serving patrons including noted baseball legend Jdank Aaron and golfing legend Sam Sneed.
Margaret was a devoted parish member until her health began to fail. She was baptized at the Immaculate Conception Church where she worked tirelessly in the social, school, and religious life o f the parish. During her time at Immaculate Conception, and later a t The Church o f the M ost Jfoly Trinity. Margaret was a member o f the Tarish Council o f Catholic 'Women. and the `Over 50's Group". In addition, she will be remembered for her role in organizing the ``Ladies o f Love" ministry which demonstrated acts o f love for grieving, sick and needy families throughout the Augusta area.
On August 15.1952. Margaret and Lloyd were united in marriage at the Immaculate Conception. Over the next 59 years, they would grow together as a loving family who `adopted' a host o f others as their own children. They enjoyed family devotion, travel, entertaining, recreation, and sporting events.
Although M argaret has now entered eternal rest, her spirit, sunny disposition and dedication to service will be hallmarks for which she will forever be remembered.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband. Lloyd Gunter. Augusta: a sister. Cornelia Lewis Tarker. JKansas City. Missouri: a devoted `Granddaughter', jTelicia (Jerry) faulks Scott. Augusta: dear friends. Jiazel (Jonas) 'Wolfe, dowesville. SC. and Georgene Yarbrough. Inglewood. MJ: nephew Dr. d a n d y (Anne) Gunter. Statesboro. G A and a host o f other nephews, niece, friends, and parish members.
