Rev. John Gartrell, Officiating

On Sunday, November 21, 1993, death angels stopped by Talmadge Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, and carried Dea. Willie Ed Gresham Sr., away.
He was born December 25, 1915, to the late Issiam and Nancy Gresham and to this union six children were born, Willie Mae, Charlie, Carrie, James, Johnny Mack and Annie Kate who all preceded him in death. His parents died when they were very young, so the family was split up. Bro. Albert Tolbert and Mrs. Callie Mae Tolbert raised him from six years old.
He joined the Heard's Chapel Baptist Church at an early age where he served faithfully as chairman of Deacon Board, Adult Sunday School teacher and church treasurer for several years.
He was united in holy matrimony on December 15, 1940, to Mrs. Mamie Lou Booker and to this union seven children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife, Mamie Lou Gresham of Washington, Ga.; six sons, Willie Ed Jr., Henry James, Charlie Roger and Samuel Mitchell of Washington, Ga., Marion and Shelton Lee of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Georgia Patricia Ann Norman of Washington, Ga.; four daughters-in-law, Virginia and Madelene of Washington, Ga., Alberta and Annie of Atlanta, Ga.; one son-in-law, Ronnie N orm an of W ashington, Ga.; four sisters-in -law , Elnora Gresham of Lincolnton, Ga., Georgia Booker and Francis Moore of Washington, Ga., and Pauline Jackson of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Booker Sr. of W ashington, Ga., and Sam Booker of A tlanta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; his best friend, Dea. The courtesy, the thoughtful, kindly deeds, the hands that reached out to help us in this time of need are appreciated.
Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you sincerely, whatever the part.

Step by step you climbed each day closer to God with each prayer you pray. For "the cry o f the heart"offered in prayer becomesju st another spiritual stair in the Heavenly staircase leading you to a beautiful place where you live anew. So never give up fo r it's worth the climb to live forever in endless time, where your soul is safe and free to live in love through eternity.
You were the only one who made hopes worth sharing, dreams worth daring, risks worth taking, plans worth making, loving worth giving, and life worth living. You gave us a warm and loving home, showed us what love is and how to love each other and all mankind, and taught us that there is a God and He is able.
A ll these things will remain with us. They are a pa rt o f you that can never leave us. We love you a n d y o u know it, and today we are sure you are somewhere in G o d 's kingdom.
