In the sweat of thy face shall thou eat bread, till thou return unto

the ground; for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto

dust shaft thou return.

Genesis 3:19

Mr. Jack Garnett, age 54, stood tall among men even in the most

adverse times and the blissful ones. He was a faithful and dedicated

truck driver for many years, until he decided to go out on his own to

become an entrepreneur in the trucking business himself. On early

Tuesday morning, May 27,1997, at his home at 752 Peeples St., S.W.,

Atlanta, Ga., he was commanded to step down and pass the strife

and joy of life to the living.

Mr. Jack Garnett was born on March 17,1943, in Lincoln Co., Ga, to the late Ms. Emma Garnett. Hard work and the will to please God was the tool of his life, with the love and guidance of his mother. He joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at a young age and also attended Mt. Ephriam Baptist Church of Atlanta, Ga., faithfully until his health failed. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Gate City *42, Shriner 33rd degree and also a member of the Atlanta Consitory *24.
Leaving to miss his love, strong shoulder and guidance, is his loving, faithful wife, Ms. Lillie Garnett, whom he married on March 14, 1965. From this marriage came four daughters: Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Gwendolyn) Gresham, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene (Jacqueline) Mills, both of Washington, Ga., Ms. Shelia Garnett Leaks of Atlanta, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Janice) Perry of Athens, Ga.; two sons, Mr. Jack Garnett Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ervin (Phyllis) Garnett of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Ms. Emma J. Garnett of Atlanta, Ga; four brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Prelo (Annie) Hogan of Lincolnton, Ga, Mr. and Mrs. Jamie L. (Ethel) Garnett of Dearing, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Lamar (Priscilla) Garnett, and Mr. and Mrs. Horace (Juanita) Hogan, both of Atlanta, Ga; one aunt, Ms. Martha Hicks of Philadelphia, Pa; 15 grandchildren and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and a
special person, Betty Cullars of Lincolnton, Ga

When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you for a little while Please do not grieve and shed wild tears And hug your sorrow to you through the years. But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name Live on and do all things the same. Feed not your loneliness on empty days But fill each waking hour in useful ways, Reach out your hand in comfort and cheer And I in turn will confort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die, For I am waiting for you in the sky!
