The Obituary
Eugene Fuller, the fourth child born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar and Tena Fuller, was a product of the Picquet Avenue neighborhood. In his youth, he attended Charles T. Walker Elementary School and A.R. Johnson High School. At an early age, he joined the Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R.C. Calhoun. He served in the Sunday School B.T.U. and was a Boy Scout.
"Gene" was drafted into the Army. Following his service and upon receiving an honorable discharge, he moved to New York, where he raised a family. An attentive father of one daughter and two sons, he was a dedicated family man. He enjoyed visiting often with his brother Julius ("Jule") and sister Thelma ("Sadie") in Philadelphia, as well as frequently coming home to Augusta to visit family and friends here.
After many years of work and retiring from the Dime Savings Bank, he returned home three years ago. Gene was a source of strength and encouragement for his brothers and sisters, especially after he returned home. He was never too tired or too busy to help family members or anyone who needed him. He visited many old friends and relatives recounting past experiences while accumulating many new memories.
He joined the Shiloh Baptist Church and was very active in all of its programs and ministries. He had recently expressed a desire to serve in the Trustee Ministry at Shiloh Baptist Church, an honor bestowed upon him posthumously. Trustee Fuller worked tirelessly at Shiloh, always making sure the worship services as well as special events and projects were successful. He was faithful in his attendance and wanted to be found in worship.
On Saturday afternoon, February 2, 2002, God Almighty visited Eugene at the University Hospital and led him out to where his chariot awaited. He stepped into the chariot, put his hand in God's hand, gave orders to the driver, sweetly drifted off to sleep, and gently left this world of toil and strife resting in God's bosom.
Eugene's memories will linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved him: loving and devoted wife, Evelyn Moore Fuller; three children: Carl Eugene (Darlene) Fuller of College Park, GA, Patricia Fuller Godette and Steven (Tracey) Fuller of New York, NY; two brothers: Charles Fuller and Harold Fuller of Augusta, GA; two sisters: Thelma Fuller Skinner of Philadelphia, PA and Jennie Fuller Cooper of Augusta, GA; one brother, Julius, and one sister, Addie preceded him in death; one brother-in-law, Percy Moore; two sisters-in-law: Ernestine Williams of Augusta, GA and Wila Mae Fuller of Philadelphia, PA; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, (23) nieces and nephews, (22) great nieces and nephews; (4) great, great nieces and nephews; one godchild, LaQuan Rhoney; (3) very special friends: Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Jenkins and Mr. William Nealous, and other relatives and friends too numerous to name.

"In Memory of Eugene Fuller"
Ever loving, kind, and true Understanding to me and you. Giving his all to his loving wife, Evelyn Moore Fuller, his mate for life. Never tiring when helping man, Enduring to the end to do the Master's Plan.
Faithful to God for life's race he ran, Unselfishly holding to God's unchanging Hand. Longing to see his Savior's face, Lifting him up for His Amazing Grace. Eagerly waiting to reach Heaven's door, Rejoicing now and forever more.
